iOS 4.0? Yawn...

It’s interesting what Apple comes up with every time they release something new. This time, though, I’m slightly disappointed in the iPhone 4.0 OS iOS 4.0.

Let’s go over what’s “new” in the new OS.

1) Backgrounds
Cool. My Motorola Droid’s been able to do backgrounds ever since it was released. Next!

2) Multitasking “Done the right way”
Umm, hello? Wasn’t this feature on Android 1.0? Like, two years ago?
Also, what’s this “done the right way” bullshit about? It’s the same technology as in Android OS 2.2, only with a different branding and with slightly different and more annoying look (in my opinion).

3) iBooks
I think Amazon’s Kindle app was more breathtaking than Apple’s iBooks app. Seriously, just because it’s shiny and has nice Apple-style animations, it doesn’t mean that it has better reads than the Kindle store…

4) iAds
What is this I don’t even… you know what, I don’t need more annoyances by including advertising from Apple along with AdMob and other companies like that. Lame!

5) Enterprise features
Isn’t this what Windows Mobile had in mind first? Hmm, okay Apple, I see what you guys did there, and I’ll give you credit for bringing your mobile platform to something useful other than horsing around with Tap Tap.

6) Enhanced Mail
Combined inboxes were in Android for a looooooong time. So did Blackberry. There’s nothing new here. Also Apple, when are you guys going to let people download attachments just like normal files and not give us the ugly “Can’t open attachment”? I don’t want to open it, I rather want to save it and then open it on the computer. Though again, that kinda defeats the purpose. Oh well, I couldn’t care less…

7) Folders
Oh cool. I can now sort all my games into one folder, sort my news apps into another, and all my pr0n into… wait, hold it there. Android OS had this ever since the G1. *yawn*

8) Game Center
Finally something new from Apple! A gaming social network! Coolio. But then again, this will make internet addiction more vulnerable and people will be spending more time on their iPhones and iPod Touches rather than with real people and face-to-face. And yes, a lot of people do actually have Internet addiction, and it is a disease! Look it up on Wikipedia if you don’t believe me…

And over 9000 more features which I don’t really give a flying crap about.
Seriously, I don’t care if I can “tap to zoom video”. I watch videos on my computer either way. Larger fonts? Get an eye checkup. 5x zoom on the camera? Get a real camera, phone cameras are complete crap anyways and will always be like that. Bluetooth keyboards? Meh! Wake on wireless? Good-bye battery! And a smarter spell check? Wasn’t it already smart enough?

Let’s just wait until Apple releases SOMETHING new and original…
