Currently, I have three classes that require a notebook to be organized. Last year, almost all of my classes had organization skills.

I find it fucking pointless when teachers *all of a sudden* announce that there will be a notebook check in the near future. Seriously? You really want to know what’s inside of our notebooks? You really want us to label every page number, every title, every picture, every corner of each page?

Whatever happened to the subject we are supposed to learn? It seems as though we spend MUCH more time on fixing up a piece of shit that weighs probably 10 pounds by now than learning what we are supposed to learn in the course.

And about note-taking: it’s fucking pointless too. I mean if you gotta take notes, then you will. But being FORCED to take them is just unacceptable in my opinion. Especially if it’s on a 5 minute Betamax where the sound is barely audible and the picture hurts mein eyes AND we have to take down 15 “interesting” facts.

And I just hate it when teachers tell us HOW to take notes. Cornell style? T-chart? Basically speed write EVERYTHING said in the Betamax?
Hello? Have you ever heard of “Different people take notes different ways?” Some people actually have photographic memory; hell, some can even memorize my biology textbook word-for-word in a couple hours. Those people don’t even NEED to take notes as they remember everything said. Besides, it’s even proven that by taking notes you miss out on some details explained.

And one thing that REALLY pisses me off is that you have to turn in your own notes.

FUCK.
I though notes were supposed to be for personal use, not for being graded? Aren’t notes supposed to be just quick scribbles of key facts just for YOUR OWN reference?
So technically, our main assignment is to just scribble a bunch of shit up and turn it in and possibly not see it again for the next three months after the unit test?

And another thing that pisses me off is that these organization skills ASSignments weigh as much as tests, quizzes, homework and classwork put together and squared twice. That technically means that if you only label odd paged numbers and not even paged numbers, then you’re fucked for the rest of the year as OVER 50% of the grade is taken away, making it an F.
And what’s even worse is that there’s rarely any chance to fix that fuckup. If you even BRIBE the teacher to fix that grade up, the most likely answer you’ll get is “Oops, I don’t have time for that. Too bad, better luck next time.”
AHEM. My YEAR grade is an F. I want to fix it NOW so that I will be able to get to at least a decent college. And not go to Foothill or De Anza because of a notebook.

The point’s clear- NOTEBOOK CHECKS ARE FUCKING POINTLESS. They fuck up your grade, don’t teach you shit, and are just a pain in the ass.
